But why should you bother with my web page? After all, who am I that you should be interested in anything I have to say?
I live near Cambridge, England, which I always think of as the lesser University city, being an Oxford man. I moved here late last millenium, from the old market town of Banbury, in North Oxfordshire. The most memorable thing about Banbury is the nursery rhyme, "Ride a Cock Horse to Banbury Cross". The cross is now a roundabout.
When I was in Banbury I worked for Rover Group, the last major British car manufacturer, where I developed control software for fuel injection systems. Rover group was thoroughly shafted by BMW, and was then renamed to "MG cars". Unsurprisingly the new image couldn't save it with old models and no development team.
My current employer is Pi Shurlok which is part of the Control Instruments Group, based in South Africa. I still design fuel injection control software.
Back in Banbury I was heavily involved with the local Christian church. I was involved with the music group, the drama group, the parish church council and various other aspects of St. Paul's Anglican church, Warwick Road, Banbury. I have also been involved in several ecumenical events.
When I first moved to Cambridge I started worshipping at St. Andrew the Great, sometimes called "the Round Church" because the congregation of that small church moved to StAG a few years back. Since StAG is not physically round, some folks prefer to call it "the Square Church". These days I worship at Cottenham Baptist, which is more local, and very friendly. I sing in the music group, and have occasionally made a right mess of the odd sketch.
Since 2000 I have been involved with a Scripture Union holiday called LiveWires. This is a technology based holiday for 12-15 year olds. It's a brilliant event that takes two weeks of annual leave and leaves the team totally exhausted, but seeing God at work in the young people is amazing.
In my spare time I am building a model railway, which was in the spare bedroom in Banbury, and is now in the loft space (which has been converted nicely for it).
In my other spare time I restore Triumph cars, my main current project being a 1970 model Mk3 Spitfire. I also act as a 'technical consultant' for Club Triumph.
I also meddle with software a lot, including some open source projects like the Gnu PIC Simulator. I'm doing some development for Oxford Vacuum Science too.
From time to time I get involved in charity events, usually with some connection to the above. For example, I have driven five of my cars round Britain (one twice) for Leukaemia research, Alzheimer's research, MacMillan Cancer Relief, Children With Leukaemia, and Multipe Sclerosis.
Over the last few years I have taken to writing science fiction. This was something I briefly dabbled in when I was at school, but my efforts then were dismal. Hopefully what I've been writing recently is rather better. Certainly the other members of the Cambridge Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers' Group (now called CWIL) thought it was worth continuing with.
If I have any time left after that, I follow several internet discussion groups, occasionally browse the web, and try to maintain a few pages of my own. This is done mostly with HTML-kit at the moment, but I'm also playing with Nvu. There are network sockets in most of the rooms in my house now.....
You probably won't be too surprised to learn I am not married!

I thought it was time for a more recent photo....
This rather grainy and low contrast picture was taken from the back of the audience at a Hibachi Dealers acoustic gig at CB2 in Cambridge. It was one of our worst performances ever.
